Us Brits may enjoy a little Royal pomp and may love our Royal Family. But back in 1789 the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern France!
Why not join our French friends and celebrate Bastille Day with some French Finesse down at The Crown, Standish, Wigan.
We will be featuring some of the finest French dishes and some wonderful French Wines and Beers

STARTERS
FRENCH ONION SOUP – Served with baked golden parmesan Croute £4.65
BOULLABAISE – Prime diced fish and shellfish stew with tomatoes and vegetables served with crusty bread £5.95
CASSEROLE FAISUN FRIT – Pan fried pheasant breast with celeriac puree and spiced braised red cabbage. £5.95
ESCARGOT STUFFED MUSHROOMS – Snails baked in closed cap mushrooms with garlic, shallots, celery and herb butter £6.95
PAN FRIED FROGS LEGS – With shallots, gherkins and dill, finished with marsala wine £5.95
MAIN COURSES
LAMB NAVARIN – Diced prime stewing lamb with root vegetables, mushrooms and demi glace sauce £12.95
COQ AU VIN – Pieces of chicken on the bone cooked with brandy, red wine, smoked bacon, shallots and mushrooms served with wild rice. Wash down with Trois Monts bierre du Garde. £11.95
FILET DE BAR FARCI – Fresh sea bass filled with wild mushrooms, fresh herbs resting on a bed of fine ratatouille. Choose a chilled glass of Chablis or Voignier. £14.95
PORK NORMANDY – Slow braised pigs trotters in cider, apples, onions and garlic served with market veg and Anna black pudding potato cake. Wash down with a traditional Normandy cider! £11.95
CHICKEN AND SAUSAGE CASSOULET – Chicken and Toulouse sausage and white bean stew served with a warm, crusty baguette, must be accompanied by one of our French beers! £12.95
