British | JW Lees Harvest Ale ( 2000 ) £4.50 11.5% ABV | 275ml

This fully fermented strong ale (also known as barley wine) has been brewed by J.W. Lees as a celebration of the brewers art since 1985. Harvest Ale can be enjoyed now or
laid down like a vintage wine for enjoyment in years to come. Fantastic with Stilton cheese. Or as a digestive after your meal.

British | Traquair House Ale £4.25 7.2% ABV | 220ml

The original ale first brewed in 1964 and now sold all over the world. Perhaps the most distinctive Scottish ale on the market, heather is a key ingredient, and with its rich dark oakiness, this is a serious winter ale. A great smelling brew, It hides the alcohol well, so is very easy to drink.

British| Fentimans Shandy £2.25 0.5% ABV | 275ml

Premium hops and malted barley are brewed and fermented before adding natural lemon juice to create this full-bodied British soda that is 70% beer. There's no skimping here

Czech | Pilsner Urquell £2.90 4.4% ABV | 330ml

In German "original pilsener". A soft tasting but gently bitter beer brewed in an elaborate and old fashioned way. From the town of Pilsen and the first pale lager ever brewed.

Czech | Bohemia Prezident £3.55 6.0% ABV | 500ml

A full, hoppy flavoured lager with a well rounded taste. Bohemia is well known for its brewing tradition and the Regent brewery in Trebon is the oldest in the Czech Republic, established in 1379, and is still part of the ancient heart of the town

French | Trois Monts £9.95 8.5% ABV | 750ml

From hop growing country in northern France, made with pale malts giving a nice golden colour. Fruity and malty with a spicy hop finish. Trois Monts refer to three hills close by. A great beer in a corked champagne bottle. Drink with chicken or strong cheeses.

BELGIAN & TRAPPIST BEERS

" Here we show off a wide selection of quality Belgian independent beers, as well as speciality beers brewed by Monks in Monasteries - These are known as Trappist beers. Belgian beers may also be available on draught from time to time. "

Belgian | Chimay | Blue £3.70 9.0% ABV | 330ml
| Red £3.50 7.0% ABV | 330ml
| White £3.60 8.0% ABV | 330ml

Best known trappist brewery – each Chimay brews are named after the colour of the caps. Blue Cap: a dark, strong ale characterized by its full flavour and port-like aroma. Good with Lamb. Red Cap is the least strong, full bodied and spicy. Full copper colour with a soft palate & is the best beer to drink with steak. White Cap is a lighter coloured beer in the triple style, which means the brew begins with triple the amount of malts and starches. Delicate balance of bitter and fruit flavours. We'd suggest this with our Ham Hock.

Belgian | Duvel £3.75 8.5% ABV | 330ml

The classic strong golden ale with a large creamy head. A subtle fruitiness and distinctive delicate taste will lead you into temptation. One of the world's great beers, Duvel means devil in Flemish and it is certainly sinfully deceptive - light in body, pale in colour. Duvel may look like a lager, but it is in fact a top fermented beer. Serve chilled in its own glass.

Belgian | Kwak £3.95 8.4% ABV | 330ml

Kwak is a dark, warming drink with liquorice-like flavours, this time inspired by a coachman! Hence Kwak is served in what has to be the most unusual glass in the world, a sort of stirrup cup!

A world classic beer. made at the Rochefort Brewery - Brasserie de Rochefort - located inside the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Saint-Remy. Rochefort '10' is classified as a quadruple ale. Drink this with chocolate. A fruity spicy mocha flavoured classic. At 11.3%ABV not a drink to be knocked back. Rochefort '8' is dry but rich The aroma is of brown sugar, figs and alcohol. The alcohol comes through in the flavour as well with dark fruits, cocoa and nuts. As the beer lingers in your mouth, the sweetness of the fruits fades away leaving a roasted malt, dark cocoa and nutty flavour. Great beer with steaks and strong flavoured dishes.

GERMAN & WEISSE BEERS

" With some 1300 active breweries in Germany many distinct drinks have been created, 'Weiss' Wheat Beers, "Dunkel" & "Schawrz" Dark Beers, 'Bock' Strong Beers, 'Pilsener' Hoppy Lagers, & "Kolsch" beers which may only be brewed in Cologne. Thanks to the 'Reinheitsgebot' or 'German Beer Purity Law' is something many German brewers are proud to uphold - a law enforcing them to only use natural ingredients, no additives, or chemicals, just good beers! "

German | Erdinger Dunkel £3.25 5.6% ABV | 500ml

This dark wheat beer is rich and smooth with a chocolaty taste and aroma. It owes its full-bodied flavour to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production. Erdinger is the world's biggest wheat beer brewery, a privately owned company in the heart of Bavaria. Try it with our Lancashire Chicken Roulade or our Burger!

German | Holsten Pils £2.50 5.0% ABV | 275ml

Now an integral part of German beer culture - "a black beer with a blonde soul". Drink with roasted dishes

German | Krombacher £3.00 4.8% ABV | Draught

Alongside the high-quality ingredients, the secret of the unique taste of Krombacher Pilsener thus lies, above all else, in the fresh, pure and low-mineral natural spring water it is brewed with. With Krombacher Pils you enjoy a distinctive, finely bitter taste and a full-flavoured aroma.

German | Kuppers Kolsch £3.60 4.8% ABV | 500ml

The golden beers of Cologne are so highly regarded that the style is protected by federal law. The beer is soft and easy to drink with flowery and delicate sweet flavours. Goes superbly with seafoods & salads.

German | Schneider Aventinus £4.50 8.0% ABV | 500ml

The most majestic of wheat beers. Aventinus has the broad characteristics of Schneider Weisse - the normal wheat beer from the brewery- but has lavish chocolate and malt sweetness that in union with its strength make the beer a real indulgence. A more apt description of the beer would be Weisse Bock, the fruitiness of wheat beer with bock like sweetness

German | Schneider Weisse £3.75 5.4% ABV | 500ml

A rich and full bodied wheat beer, tan in colour with a clove-like fruity bouquet. A uniquely satisfying experience. Schneider Weisse is an unfiltered wheat beer from Bavaria. Compared with many German Weisse beers, it is very full flavoured and spicy. Superb with sandwiches and spicy foods.

German | Jever Pilsner £3.25 4.9% ABV | 500ml

A world classic extra dry pilsener from the Freisland area of north Germany, only a small brewer, but producing a great beer not for the faint hearted! Very bitter hop flavour as indicated on the label – "herb". One of the most hoppy, bitter beers in the world with 44 units of bitterness. Great with fish dishes.

AMERICAN BEERS

" These are not your nasty fizzy flavourless mass market bottles. The American Craft Brewery scene has exploded in recent years—producing beers that are highly rated and often over the top. What we have here are recreations of classic European beers styles - yet there are brilliant enough to stand on their own merits. "

American | Anchor Old Foghorn £4.25 9.4% ABV | 355ml

A strong barley wine - highly hopped with Cascade hops and then dry hopped throughout the maturation period of 6 months. Although the yeast is unable to ferment all sugars out of any beer at this strength the hop flavours make a balanced brew ideal for sipping after dinner. Try over some cheese & biscuits

American| Bourbon County Stout (2008) £6.95 13% ABV | 355ml

Originally brewed in celebration of the 1000th batch at Goose Island's historic Clybourn street brewpub. A liquid as dark and dense as a black hole with thick foam the colour of a bourbon barrel. The nose is an intense mix of charred oak, chocolate, vanilla, caramel and smoke. One sip has more flavour than your average case of beer. A gigantic beer that's perfect when enjoyed on its own or with a fine robust cigar.

American | Brooklyn | Brooklyn Local 1 £9.95 9.0% ABV | 750ml

Behind the full golden colour you will find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavours, Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of Brooklyn's special yeast. The beer is created using an old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth.

American | Flying Dog | Doggie Style IPA£3.55 4.7% ABV | 355ml

Meet the Alpha of the pack - Flying Dog 'Doggie Style' Classic Pale Ale is brilliant-amber in colour and dry hopped with buckets full of Cascades for an unrivalled hop flavour and aroma. This is a true representation of an American-style Pale ale, using the finest ingredients only. This dog answers to no man and will never be tamed! Try it with our Steak Burger with all the trimmings.

American | Goose Island | Matilda £3.95 7.0% ABV | 355ml

Chicago's finest and freshest hand-crafted ales and lagers. Matilda is made with a rare yeast that suggests a fruity and spicy flavour. There is complex maltiness balanced with a profuse amount of hops making it a great beer.

FRUIT BEERS

" Here we offer our beer drinkers palette a selection from the tradition of creating powerful and moreish fruited beers. Here is our selection for your perusal. Fruit Beers may also be available on draught from time to time. Match with fruit dishes, ice creams & chocolate"

Belgian | Cantillon Rose £4.95 5.0% ABV | 375ml

A blended limbic beer brewed with raspberries, and is Brussels' summer drink - further fermentation of lambic blends is created by addition of raspberries. It is called Rose de Gambrinus to distinguish it from other artificially sweetened beers. It has a huge bouquet and makes a delicate aperitif. This beer is pink in colour and extra dry and delicate.

Belgian | Leifmans | Kreik £4.25 6.0% ABV | 375ml

The brewery adds pressed raspberries to some of its brown ale and allows further fermentation. Bottles are hand wrapped in tissue paper - Liefmans Kriek is brewed once a year – the brewery add cherries to some of its brown ale and allows further fermentation

Belgian | Van Honsebrouk | Bacchus Framboise £4.25 5.0% ABV | 375ml

Bottles are paper wrapped and in half champagne bottles. Light and refreshing with a spritzy tartness. Raspberry fruit is added to give an intensely fruity beer. The Van Honsebrouk Brewery started on a family farm in 1900. The brewery had its big breakthrough in 1953 with Luc Van Honsebrouck. Thanks to his ideas the brewery became famous.

Belgian | Lindemans |Pecheresse £3.75 2.5% ABV | 375ml

A sweet, light, very heavily peach scented and tasting lambic beer. Lambic, or spontaneously fermented beers, are among the world's rarest. Produced more like a methode champenoise champagne, than a typical beer, these products mature in oak for nearly two years prior to release.

Belgian | Timmermans | Cherry £2.95 4.0% ABV | 330ml
| Strawberry £2.95 4.0% ABV | 330ml

Lambic base, Cherry flavour is no holds barred, which is already felt from its very powerful nose. Acidity is neutralised by its agreeably sweet and fruity bouquet. Its taste advances profoundly in the mouth and lingers long, gently and also elegantly tinted with summer cherries. Strawberry has a real feeling of freshness, recalling those tiny green granules that found around ripened strawberries. Its taste is consistent and spreads very quickly throughout the mouth to finish its journey on a touch that is fruiter rather than sweetened.

CIDERS

" Not only do we have the tasty ciders listed below, we also experiment with various still & scrumpy ciders or perrys on hand pull. "

British | Aspalls £3.00 5.5% ABV | Draught

Draught has a mid straw colour with a floral, appley aroma especially of Russetts. It is made straight from apples—not concentrate. It has a lovely mouth filling mousse and a delicate flavour of fresh pressed apples. It is an off dry cyder with a complexity that enhances its long finish.

British | St Helier £3.00 5.0% ABV | 500ml

Distinct difference from apple cider. Lightly sparking & a high juice content from juicy ripe pears that have turned summer's warmth into delicious sweetness

British | Thatchers | Katy £3.50 7.4% ABV | 500ml
| Coxs £3.50 5.3% ABV | 500ml

Katy is light, dry, fragrant and softly sparkling. Great to enjoy on its own and with chicken, rice or pasta. Coxy is naturally sweet and juicy - just like a Cox's apple. Great on its own and with barbecues and salads.
